Hany Mekhael, MD
Dr. Mekhael is a physician, board certified in Adult Psychiatry with added subspecialty in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Mekhael is licensed to practice medicine in Michigan. He is a clinical assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry at Wayne-State University. He's currently serves as Chief of Staff at Havenwyck Hospital. He was named the "Outstanding graduating resident in General Psychiatry" and received the award for Â“Outstanding empathy with patients and fellow residents Â“in year 2005.
He was also awarded the "Outstanding graduating resident in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry" in year 2007
Michael Butkus, PhD
Dr. Michael Butkus is a Clinical Psychologist who has over 35 years of experience in treating older children (8 and older), adolescents, and adults. Specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), he is able to provide diagnostic evaluations and outcome-based treatment for a broad range of problems, including: anxiety, depression, ADHD, parent child management guidance. Dr. Butkus specializes in the treatment of mild to moderate forms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Dr. Butkus has an appointment as an Assistant Professor through the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Additionally, at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan (CHM), Dr. Butkus conducts and supervises consultation/liaison activity with medically-ill children and adolescents as well as provides psychotherapy supervision for psychology interns, child psychiatry fellows, and other trainees. He is also a consultant for the General Pediatrics ADHD Clinic at CHM. He is a part-time lecturer on various psychology-related topics.
Laura Henderson, LMSW
I am a fully licensed social worker, who has practiced as a clinical therapist for over 25 years. I have specialized training in such childhood and adolescent disorders as: ADHD, Autism/Asperger Spectrum, depression, anxiety, abuse/neglect, behavioral issues, chronic illness.
I am certified as a Trauma and Loss Specialist, relative to children. I have worked extensively with "Families in Crisis", involving such issues as: divorce, custody/parenting time, loss of a parent or sibling, or deployment of a parent. I also work with adults, relative to a wide range of disorders/issues, such as: depression (including Bipolar), anxiety, grief/loss, relationship problems, parenting challenges, trauma, stress management (particularly related to the workplace), codependency, and life transitions.
I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach to counseling, incorporating such strategies as: CBT, MI, solution-focused/brief dynamic, supportive, and trauma-recovery. I coordinate care with relevant professionals (i.e. psychiatrists, primary care physicians, teachers/school counselors, etc.), as indicated.
Georgia Michalopoulou, Ph.D, LP
Dr. Michalopoulou is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive training and experience treating a wide range of social emotional and behavioral difficulties in preschool and school age children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Michalopoulou specializes in the treatment of behavioral disorders including depression, anxiety, as well as stress experienced from various overwhelming life experiences such as divorce, loss, and important life transitions.
Employing an integrative approach to treatment including cognitive-behavioral therapy , parent- child interaction therapy, parent management, solution-focused, and relational approaches, Dr. Michalopoulou is committed to helping her patients manage life challenges effectively, increase interpersonal effectiveness and psychological well-being in order to lead fulfilling and satisfactory lives.
